Celebrating another important milestone for Good Food Retail in Buckinghamshire.
In 2025, we were proud to be part of Buckinghamshire’s Healthy School Neighbourhood Project— an ambitious programme designed to create whole environments around schools in low-income areas that are more health-enabling. As Good Food Retail we led the Food & Drink strand, working with 9 convenience stores across Aylesbury and High Wycombe — including 3 cultural stores serving diverse communities.
Together we achieved:
• A 20% uplift in the availability of healthier options
• Strong retailer engagement
• Shared insight from children about their purchasing habits
• Open conversations about how healthier ranges can work commercially

Attending the Year of Impact event in October, one thing was clear, partnership lay at the heart of this project’s success. When councils, retailers and communities align around a shared goal, healthier options become easier to access — and easier to sustain.
Now, in 2026, we’re building on that momentum and this month we got the green light from Buckinghamshire Council to expand the Good Food Retail network into 20 more convenience stores across the county.
This is a great start to the year and plays into our long-term ambition of proving that local initiatives can work at scale — making healthier food more affordable and accessible to communities across the country.
If you’re working in local government, wholesale or retail and want to explore how Good Food Retail can scale in your area, we would love to hear from you hello@goodfoodretailnetwork.co.uk
