We’re a national movement helping independent convenience stores bring healthier, affordable, and culturally appropriate food to local communities across the UK.

Founded in 2019 by Rice Marketing and Impact on Urban Health we work with people from across the food system — connecting convenience stores, wholesalers, suppliers, communities, councils, and policymakers — to make healthier food the easy choice for everyone.

HOW IT WORKS
Step 1: Join the Network and Receive Your Membership Pack
→ Fill in a few quick details and we’ll sign you up for our:

GOOD FOOD RETAIL Broadcast Channel to receive news about product promotions and trade weeks

Step 2: Identify Your Current Healthier Options
→ Use our Healthier 100 Lines Framework to identify the healthier products in your shop (send us a photo of your list)
→ On the same list identify the items you currently sell in our GOOD HEALTH RETAIL* section.
​
*There are other ways you can help with the health of your community, like stocking dental and hygiene products.
Identify those items that you already stock, or not, and we will include more recommendations in our Action Plan for you.
Step 3: Receive Your Action Plan
→ We send you your recommended list of Healthier Option products that sell well in stores similar to yours
→ Purchase these recommended product lines from your normal wholesaler.
→ Look out for the Good Food Retailer network wholesaler trade dates coming on the Broadcast Channel.
Step 4: Receive Your Healthier Option Assets
→ You’ll receive your Asset Pack, including; Healthier Options Wobblers​ so that customers can see you are part of the network and find the Healthier Options in your store.
Step 5: Show Us Your Changes
→ Setup and send us photos of your newly purchased Healthier Options on the shelf
Step 6: Launch in Store
→ Once we see the stock on the shelves we will send a Press Release you can make your own and share with your local community via social media and your local paper
→ Welcome your customers in to the healthier options in your store

Step 7: Stay Connected
→ Receive Good Food Retail promotions, recommendations and guidance on more healthier product switches via our Broadcast Channel
→ Feedback which Healthier Options are selling well in your store
